CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Looking forward to working with you

Supervision and mentoring

Clinical and case supervision for psychologists and other therapists, professional development and coaching.

I am a mentor for clinical psychologists in training on the Bath University Doctoral Training Programme, and provide mentoring to staff at the University of the West of England. Other work includes providing regular clinical supervision for psychological therapists.

Team development

Support to develop strategic vision, for work planning, to implement change, overcome challenges and build team cohesion.

I have provided team building 'away days' to support teams facing change, to inspire new ways of working, to strengthen working relationships and increase productivity.

Do you need a skilled, flexible and impartial group facilitator to help you get the best from your team?

Teaching and training

Bespoke packages for professional development: from single and one day sessions to short courses and longer term programmes.

I have facilitated workshops and delivered training to a wide range of professional in lay audiences, as well as teaching on the Bath University Doctoral Training Programme.

Evaluation of a half day 'Eating Disorders Master Class' for GPs in North West London (2015) gained high levels of satisfaction (83%):

"A fresh approach to a difficult area ... Powerful quotes from service users.
Useful resource list."

"Great to be flexible & responsive to the group."

Service development

Strategic needs and impact assessment, project planning and initiation, care pathway development, service user and carer engagement.

Whilst working for Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust I developed, delivered and evaluated a pilot service to deliver specialist psychological therapy in primary care settings. The model proved its worth: cutting costs, increasing service access, and reducing treatment waiting times, whilst gaining high levels of service user satisfaction. Having demonstrated the success of the model I then recruited a team and led the roll out of the service across the city of Bristol. The First Step Primary Care Eating Disorders Service model is now being replicated in other parts of the country.
Service Development

Service evaluation and improvement

Systems for monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of ongoing projects and processes, and to evaluate service provision, quality, impact and clinical outcomes.

A recent collaboration (2016) supported development of a governance, audit and reporting framework for a charity providing social inclusion services to adults and young people in Avon and Wiltshire.

My latest service evaluation (2016) used an online survey to evaluate the organisation and delivery of a support group for men with eating problems, helping to ensure the project met the needs of service users.

Research

Design and implementation of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methodology research projects.

Do you need help with a research project? I have strong research skills, an excellent understanding of statistical techniques (and SPSS), and expertise in qualitative methods. My doctoral dissertation used a mixed methodology to examine latent psychological constructs in people's understandings of their mental health. I have written for publication and developed research to evidence healthcare delivery in clinical settings. As a peer supervisor and reviewer I have supported the implementation and write-up of research for academic publication.
